I'm Avery Anderson, and I'm running for the Kansas House of Representatives — District 72
I am a lifelong resident of Newton, Kansas. I am a graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in political science and a minor in communications. While at KU I had the opportunity to intern in the Kansas House of Representatives, and this winter I served as a legislative intern for Kansas Senator Pat Roberts in Washington D.C.
Those experiences solidified my interest in politics, and now I want to give back to the community I've called home for nearly a quarter century. Representing you the 72nd District is my top priority. Your voice matters to me. Topeka and its politics can seem far away, but I want to make the state capitol accessible to our district. I pledge to be a representative responsive to the needs of my constituents, and promise to be easily accessible as often as possible.
I know firsthand how important local business is to a community, as my family has owned and operated businesses in Newton for over 128 years. I love the fact that the 72nd District is home to two other small towns with great people, North Newton and Whitewater, and has a large rural population with some of the most dedicated farmers around. These communities will need to be a priority as Kansas emerges from the COVID-19 crisis.
It's time for a fresh, new voice in Topeka, and I believe that I'm the candidate best suited to represent Kansas' 72nd District.
I hope I can count on your vote in the August 4 Republican primary, and again in the November 3 general election.
